Dumfries & Galloway Carnival is a winter celebration created to bring people together, put Dumfries on the map and give our region something spectacular to look forward to in the middle of those January blues.

Why Carnival?

We wanted to create something that brings a bit of colour, energy and excitement to Dumfries in the middle of winter.

Something that gives people a reason to get out, get involved and celebrate their town.

Something that belongs to everyone.

Carnival gives people the opportunity to be part of something much bigger than themselves. You can watch it, join it, volunteer, perform, create, support it or simply turn up with your friends and family and enjoy the atmosphere.

And because we believe everyone should be able to experience it, Carnival is completely free to attend.

Dumfries & Galloway has no shortage of creative people, brilliant community groups, talented performers, independent businesses and people with big ideas.

Carnival brings all of that together.

We’re creating a weekend that celebrates the people and places that make our region what it is, while giving everyone the chance to experience something new.

From the first lantern being made to the final person leaving the parade route, this is a collective effort.

There is no single person who is Carnival.

Carnival is all of us.
