Is Carnival free?

Yes! Dumfries & Galloway Carnival is a free outdoor event for everyone.

When is the Parade?

The Parade takes place on Saturday evening. Check the website and social media for the confirmed time.

Do I need tickets?

No tickets are required for the main Carnival events. Some specific workshops or experiences may require booking — check individual listings.

Where does Carnival take place?

Carnival takes place across Dumfries town centre, with the main stage, Food Village and activity areas in the central streets.

What time does Carnival start?

Activity begins from midday on Friday and Saturday. The Parade takes place on Saturday evening.

What is Northern Lights Dumfries?

Northern Lights transforms spaces across Dumfries through light, projection, performance and immersive experiences during Carnival weekend.

What is Rave Experience?

A brand-new 20-minute immersive production exploring the story and legacy of rave culture through film, animation, dance, music and 360-degree projection.

Is there live music?

Yes – there will be free live music, DJs and performances throughout Carnival weekend.

Is Carnival suitable for children?

Yes. Carnival is family-friendly, with plenty for children and young people. Check individual listings for any age guidance.

Can I watch the Parade online?

Yes. The Parade will be live streamed on social media and available to watch afterwards.

Food & Drink

Is there food and drink?

Yes. Our Food Village will serve a range of street food, hot food and sweet treats throughout the weekend.

Can I pay by cash or card?

Our Carnival bars accept cash, card and contactless payments. Individual traders may have their own payment arrangements.

Is Carnival accessible?
